The Welding Research Institute is the premier national research centre of India in the field of welding and allied
areas. WRI was established by Government of India under the aegis of the
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Tiruchirappalli, India, a premier public
sector undertaking with the assistance of UNIDO / UNDP. The institute has
assimilated high level of technological excellence in nearly four decades and
has assisted the Indian industries in applying the latest welding and allied
techniques to upgrade quality & productivity.
Since its inception on November 1, 1975, WRI has been constantly interacting with world renowned institutions for updating the knowledge base on latest technologies and transferring it to the Indian industry sector.
